4th and 5th Class had great fun exploring our new STEAM kits! Working collaboratively in small groups, the children used a variety of materials — including hex blocks, LEGO, notched sticks, brain flakes, snap blocks, dowels, gears, dominoes, smart sticks, building straws, connectors — to design and build imaginative constructions based on the challenge cards in their kits. Their creations included Olympic stadiums, skyscrapers, catapults, rockets, a Mars space station, playgrounds, bird houses, domino chains, pyramids, flower bouquets, robotic cars and even a helmet!
Through this hands-on activity, pupils developed key learning skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, creativity, communication and critical thinking, while applying science, technology, engineering, art and maths in a fun and engaging way.
