From March 31st to May the 9th, our school participated in the Active Schools 'Skip Around Europe' initiative! During this period each classrooms chose a European capital to 'Skip' to, one skip equal to one kilometre. In these four weeks the children developed their skipping skills, learned about other European countries, worked together as well as individually and most importantly had fun! Ballyheada N.S managed to skip over 500,000km in total! We also saw how skipping could be done in many forms! Our pupils used hoops, ropes and trampolines! It was a wonderful success and it is great to to see many of our pupils still using the schools skipping ropes or their own on a daily basis!
