Celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge

18th Mar 2026

We enjoyed celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge in our school. We were delighted to welcome Daithí Collis and Ciarán Mac Giolla Ruaidh, who brought traditional Irish music to life in a fun and engaging way for all the children. Their lively performance created a wonderful atmosphere and they may even have inspired a few future band members with some enthusiastic spoon playing from Charlie, Emma and Steven!  Of course, no sing-song would have been complete without a rendition of Killeagh!

Throughout the week, we made a special effort to use more Irish informally during the school day and out in the yard. Ticéid don Ghaeilge labhartha (Tickets for spoken Irish) were awarded to pupils and classes in recognition of their efforts to speak Irish. We also marked the occasion with a Lá Glas, while pupils from 3rd to 6th Class learned our national anthem, Amhrán na bhFiann. All classes enjoyed learning the dance An Dreoilín, which added to the fun and spirit of the week.
