Sciath na Scol Report and Interview with Darragh O Sullivan by Rian Mangan
On Friday last the boys and girls from 4th, 5th and 6th Class Ballyheada N.S. travelled to Tracton G.A.A. grounds to take on Rennies N.S. for the first hurling & camogie games of this school year.
Who scored ?
The camogie match was played first, Emma Ring in 5th class had a super game and scored 1 goal & 2points. For the boys, Cian O’Sullivan scored 6 points, with 4 of them from frees. Aidan Dennehy and Conor Coleman also scored points from the half back line, with Tadhg Mullaney getting a point. Oisin O’Sullivan got the score of the match with a dummy handpass and straight over the bar from the sideline.
Who were players of the match?
Everyone played very well last Friday. It was a great team performance from both boys and girls. It is hard to pick out one singular player but overall it was a great day for Ballyheada N.S.
What about the management?
It was a fantastic panel performance. Every person played a significant role last Friday. Well done to Mr. Keohane and Ms. Healy and Mr. O’Sullivan for managing the team on the day. Especially a shout out to Mr. Keohane for being the referee for both the matches last Friday. He was very fair and let two great matches happen.
Were there many supporters?
Yes. There was great support for Ballyheada N.S. Lots of parents and past pupils were watching the two matches unfold on a lovely sunny day in Minane Bridge.
What was the mood like after the matches?
For the girls, they came up against a really strong Rennies side but they took a lot of positives away from the match. They will take great confidence into the next game. They kept their heads held high. For the boys, they were happy with the result and couldn't wait to be training again on Monday after school.
Overall it was a very good day to be from Ballyheada N.S. We had a fantastic day out in the sun playing for our school. Thankfully one of our teams was successful, and hopefully in our next match both teams will be successful. Fingers crossed.
With thanks to Mr. O’Sullivan, who Rian interviewed to compile this match report.
