Pop Art

21st Jan 2026
We have been learning this month in Ms. Simcox's class about the famous Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein. He uses comic books as inspiration and his style is famous for the use of Ben Day dots, bold black lines and primary colours. We watched this video to learn more about his life and inspiration.

We also did our own doodles and drawings based on his style. We were really happy with how they turned out!

Lichtenstein's style is still influential today in design, advertising and architecture. Most of the class loved his style, while some students felt it was over-hyped. Art is all about subjectivity, and as Roy Lichtenstein himself said, "My work isn't about form, it's about seeing". Good art, he said, contains conflict, and is not just about painting a pretty picture. What do you think?
