Junk Art
As part of a hands-on, creative exploration of recycling and design, 4th and 5th class took part in a Junk Art project using a variety of clean, reusable materials brought in from home. Items such as cardboard tubes, plastic containers, bottle tops, wire and fabric scraps were transformed through imagination and teamwork. After exploring examples of junk couture fashion and robot sculptures, pupils discussed the use of materials and construction techniques. They then worked in small groups to design and build either a robot or a fashion piece, sketching out ideas and planning how to use their collected materials creatively. Using tools like scissors, tape, string and glue guns, the children brought their imaginative designs to life, adding details and personality with finishing touches. Finally, each group presented their creation to the class. The project not only sparked creativity but also encouraged collaboration, problem-solving and environmental awareness.
