On November 4th, 4th, 5th and 6th Class pupils travelled to Cork City Hall to enjoy a live performance by the Cork Pops Orchestra, themed “The Rhythm of Life.”
In the weeks leading up to the concert, the children explored the work of various composers and learned about rhythm and time in music as part of their preparation in the classroom.
They were delighted to recognise and enjoy well-known pieces by composers such as Josef Haydn, Leroy Anderson, Giuseppe Sammartini, Steve Reich, Amilcare Ponchielli, Dave Brubeck and John Williams, among others.
There were also some surprise performances at the end — Golden and Killeagh! — which were met with great excitement.
It was a fabulous opportunity for the children to experience live classical music and to appreciate the beauty of orchestral instruments in action.
